In the heart of the hedonistic chaos that is Northbridge a new oasis is preparing to open its doors.
Hilton’s $70 million 17-level Doubletree hotel on James Street is now the suburb’s tallest building and biggest hotel.
Hilton is hoping the 206-room hotel, complete with two bars, restaurants and a pool will attract a different type of traveller than their traditional offering in the CBD.
The theme of the hotel is contemporary, with quirky touches here and there without it resembling a scene from Willy Wonka.
The most interesting aspect of the hotel is the contrast between the calmness of the rooms and facilities to the business of the streets below.
While guests fill themselves to a comatose state with room service they will be oblivious behind soundproof windows to the commotion in the nightlife district below.
