A 206-room DoubleTree by Hilton will open on James St Northbridge in early 2017, the third local hotel flagged by the brand in the last 18 months.
Hilton Worldwide and SKS Group held a ground breaking ceremony of the Northbridge Amansari at an event attended by Tourism minister Kim Hames, Tourism WA boss Stephanie Buckland and the vice-president Australasia Hilton Worldwide Paul Hutton, among others.
It follows recent announcement of two other local hotels, DoubleTree by Hilton Perth on the Waterfront and the DoubleTree by Hilton in Fremantle.
The DoubleTree brand is considered a four-star hotel similar to the Rydges and Holiday Inn brands, and known for its signature warm chocolate chip cookie welcome at check-in.
The hotel will include four suites, a restaurant and bar, 400m² of event space, business centre, gym and outdoor pool.
Paul Hutton, vice president – operations Hilton Worldwide Australasia, said Hilton Worldwide’s expansion in Perth was part of a deliberate strategy.
“There is no doubt that Perth has seen a recent transformation. At the heart of this, Northbridge is a vibrant suburb where arts, culture and entertainment come together.
“We are extremely excited to be announcing our third Perth DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Northbridge set right amongst Perth’s most happening precinct.”
